Import a local video
Choose a local video file from your computer. The full source video stays on your computer instead of becoming a full cloud video library.

Let ShotMind split the video into shots
ShotMind detects cut points and turns the video into smaller shot clips so you can review concrete visual moments.

Select the shots worth analyzing
You do not need to analyze everything. Pick the shot clips that are useful for editing, pitching, AI video reference, or future reuse.

Analyze selected shot clips
Selected shot clips are temporarily sent to cloud AI for visual analysis. The analysis results, thumbnails, and a local searchable index come back to your local library, where already-analyzed shots can be browsed and searched locally.

Search by natural language
Search by what is visible: subject, action, lighting, mood, composition, camera movement, or a scene you remember.

Open the original context before using a result
When a result matters, jump back to the source video context before using it in editing, prompts, pitch decks, or client work.
Before you start
- The macOS local library is free to download and use. Finish fast uses 2 points per selected shot; Background uses 1 point. Only successful new AI results spend Points.
- Full source videos stay local; only selected shot clips are sent to cloud AI when you choose to analyze them.
- AI analysis and search can still be imperfect, so important matches should be checked against the original video.
- Windows is in the future development plan; the current public app is macOS.
Back up and move your library

Export your library as an archive
In the ShotMind desktop app, open Settings and find the local data and backup options, then export your local library as an archive file. The archive contains your library data, including AI analysis results, analyzed shot clips, thumbnails, and checksums.

Store the archive somewhere you trust
Save the exported archive to an external drive, NAS, or cloud storage. The archive does not include your original full-source videos, and it is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere private.

Restore on another Mac
Install ShotMind on the new Mac, open Settings, and import the archive to rebuild your local library. Your analyzed shots become browsable and searchable again, including offline.
